Mahindra & Mahindra is the only Indian automobile company to produce electric cars at present and although sales volumes have not hit the roof, the company is persisting with its vision for future mobility. Mahindra & Mahindra has sold close to 600 electric cars till now over the first 7 months of this financial year according to reports.
Mahindra & Mahindra has now announced that two new electric cars will be launched by the year 2019. The Managing Director at Mahindra & Mahindra, Dr. Pawan Goenka, has confirmed that the first electric car will be launched by the year 2018 while the second one will come by the end of 2019. Dr. Goenka also confirmed that these electric cars will be based on present Mahindra models. However, the company will be pumping in close to Rs. 600 crore over a period of three years for manufacturing these vehicles.

Mahindra & Mahindra is expected to scale up production at its Bangalore plant for this purpose. The company will be scaling up production capacity to 1,000 cars every month over the next 6 months and Mahindra & Mahindra is planning to touch 5,000 units every month by the year 2019 as per reports. The KUV100 is likely to be unveiled in an electric avatar soon as per reports. The company may reveal more details of its electric vehicle plans at the 2018 Auto Expo.
