Vitara Brezza - Compact SUV
Maruti Suzuki has cars in all possible shapes under 10 lakhs ranging from hatchback, premium hatchback, compact sedan, crossover, and MUV. However, surprisingly Maruti doesn’t have a representation in the most happening compact SUV segment, dominated by the Hyundai Creta at the moment. Maruti is all set to bring the Suzuki Vitara Brezza to India. Vitara Brezza is not a new name for Indian car market. Maruti launched the Grand Vitara Brezza way back in 2005 by importing via the CBU route from Japan. The car came with a 2.4 Liter ravenous petrol engine that gave 5-6 Km for every liter of gasoline in real world condition. Coupled with a hefty price tag, Grand Vitara Brezza literally didn’t move out Maruti’s shelves.

It is surprising that Maruti launched the S-Cross in the first place instead of a car with compact SUV design language. Some lessons from history: Vitara Brezza was first launched by Suzuki in 1988. The Vitara Brezza was inspired by the success and experience Suzuki gained from the four-wheel drive SUV, the Gimny launched in 1968. Vitara Brezza was conceptualized as a passenger-car-style mid-size SUV in 1988. Suzuki kept on tweaking the Vitara Brezza regularly. This version of Suzuki Vitara Brezza was unveiled in the 2014 Paris motor show.
Car looks unmistakably a Suzuki. The car has some design cues taken out from the Land Rover and an added cheeky look to it. Maruti is believed to bring the car in some not before seen colors. Suzuki Vitara Brezza is believed to come in 15 hues, including new Atlantis Pearl, Horizon orange, and Savannah Ivory Metallic colors. The car may also come with a glossy black top, at least on the topmost variant.

Interiors undoubtedly look and feel Suzuki. You get decent legroom at both front and the rear. The dashboard has a straight forward and simple design language with the body color inserts which looks quite nice giving a colorful appeal to the interiors. There are many parts shared by other cars from the Suzuki stable. There are lots of storage spaces and cubby holes available for the passengers. The car is a 5-seater and comes with a 375-liter flat practical boot with a low loading lip. The car will be slightly less in space compared to the S-Cross.

Ride and Handling
The ride of European spec is best termed neither too soft nor hard to give a fine balance between comfort and handling. Being a Suzuki, you can be assured that Vitara Brezza will hold the corners well.
Maruti is believed to plonk in the same engines that are doing duty on the S-Cross. Hence, Vitara Brezza will spot the 1.6 Liter 320 DDis 118 bhp diesel engine and the 1.3 Liter 200 DDis bhp diesel engine. Suzuki has four-wheel drive versions for the Vitara Brezza but Maruti will not be offering the same in India.
Maruti is believed to position the car against the likes of the Hyundai Creta and the Ford Ecosport. Maruti is expected to price the car aggressively to get a quick break through in this fiercely competed compact SUV segment.
