Honda City once the largest selling executive sedan in the country was ousted from the number one slot by the Maruti Suzuki Ciaz. Also, Honda was losing sales volume to the other cars in the like the Volkswagen Vento, Skoda Rapid, and the Hyundai Verna. Honda launched a new version of City with some essential cosmetic upgrades in 2017 to recapture the most coveted numero uno spot in the executive sedan segment. We pitch Honda City 2017 against the competition.
The 2017 City is a cosmetic upgrade over the 2016 model which it replaced. The facelift gets a fresh look with the list of updates includes a new grille, DRLs, reworked bumpers, boot-lid spoiler with brake lights and larger 16-inch diamond cut alloy wheels. In the inside, the 2017 City gets a larger 7-inch touch screen with MirrorLink smartphone connectivity. There are no changes on the mechanical front.
The king of the executive segment, Ciaz is a capable car from the largest car manufacturer in India. Maruti recently started selling Ciaz thru their premium Nexa dealership. There are rumours that Maruti is all set to bring a significantly upgraded (mostly cosmetic) version the Ciaz soon. With a strong product and an impeccable service network, it is hard to beat this car.
Volkswagen kept the Vento design fresh by inducing frequent cosmetic upgrades on the Vento. However, the basic design remains the same since its launch in 2010. The latest update made the car look more mature and for an untrained eye the Vento pass on as a little Jetta. VW offers the Vento in two petrol and a diesel engine.
Rapid is one of the most successful models of the Czech car company in India. Skoda has recently given some style upgrades to the car to render the new family look, and it looks elegant and beautiful. The car has a great ride and handling balance. Wish Skoda gave us better after sales support!
