The 2018 facelifted Mahindra XUV500 has been spotted testing in South India as per reports. The new XUV500 is expected to come with extensive interior and exterior upgrades. There may be a petrol engine option along with a more powerful diesel engine as well. The 2018 XUV500 will come with design tweaks including changes for the tail light and headlamp clusters along with the rear and front bumpers, grille and alloy wheels. There may be brand new upholstery and hues inside the cabin.
The XUV500 will come with the mHawk 2.2 litre diesel engine that churns out 170 BHP and 400 Nm. This will be a major upgrade in comparison to the current power and torque figures of 140 BHP and 330 Nm respectively. There may be a petrol engine option introduced for the Mahindra XUV500 as well. The SUV recently got a petrol option in the UAE market and this was a four-cylinder 2.2 litre engine that makes 120 BHP and 320 Nm.

With the high demand for petrol vehicles in India, Mahindra & Mahindra may launch the XUV500 petrol model here and the engine may be paired to both manual and automatic transmission units in this case. The petrol engine will help the company compete with rivals like the Renault Captur, Jeep Compass and others.
