The 2018 XUV500 has finally been spied testing on Indian roads and going by reports, it may launch by the end of December, 2017 or early 2018. The new XUV500 looks quite similar to the present model from the rear, particularly with regard to the tail lamps although there may be changes to the rear bumper. There may be new 10-spoke alloy wheels for the XUV500 and these may be inspired by the XUV Aero concept model that was displayed at the previous edition of the Auto Expo.

There may be a new toothed grille for the 2018 XUV500 which will be similar to the facelifted Scorpio. Apart from this Imperio-like grille, there may be some changes for the front bumper and fog lamp cluster. The XUV500 is almost certain to witness an increase in power since the Scorpio’s power output has been bumped up already. The new XUV500 may dish out 170 hp and 400 Nm. This will help it compete better against the popular Jeep Compass which makes 171 BHP and 350 Nm and also the Tata Hexa which makes 154 BHP and 400 Nm. The manual and automatic (6-speed) options should be the same for the 2018 XUV500.
There may be a petrol XUV500 variant introduced by Mahindra & Mahindra as well. This may be launched along with the new diesel variants as per reports. Mahindra & Mahindra is yet to officially announce the launch date for the 2018 XUV500. Some other expected changes may include the addition of Android Auto and Apple CarPlay for the touch screen infotainment unit of the XUV500.
