The near-production version of the new Jeep Compass rival, codenamed H5, will be brought in by Tata to the 2018 Auto Expo. Spied testing in the country, the new Tata SUV is expected to be offered in five-seat and seven-seat configurations. Both the versions of the SUV are said to be completely different with regard to feel and design, though they will be based on the Land Rover Discovery Sport’s L550 platform. The versions will also share FCA’s 2.0litre, four-cylinder MultiJet II diesel engine, but in different states of tune- 140hp for the five-seater and 170hp for the seven-seater. The variants are expected to be offered with two-wheel as well as four-wheel drive variants.

As far as pricing is concerned, buyers will have to shell out close to Rs. 13 lakh for this five-seater SUV. On the other hand, Tata is most likely to keep the seven-seater’s price tag at about Rs. 15 lakh. Thus, this car is targeting to rival the likes of Jeep Compass and the Hyundai Creta.
