Mahindra XUV500 Hybrid

What are some of the specialties of the Mahindra XUV500 Hybrid?

1. The distinctiveness of the Hybrid XUV500 is that it is globally, the first ever diesel Hybrid SUV offered with a manual transmission and credit of course, goes to the Indian automaker, Mahindra.
2. The Hybrid is aimed more as a city vehicle, and therefore the target audiences are city dwellers who can save a great deal on petrol or diesel costs and at the same time help reduce pollution levels by driving around in a cleaner, 'green' vehicle.
3. The diesel engine will be blended neatly with a lithium-ion battery and magnetic synchronous motor that will be merged with the diesel engine so as to aid the driving force.
4. This new engine devised by Mahindra is a combination of Permanent Magnet Synchronous Motor (PMSM) and lithium-ion battery that is integrated into the regular diesel engine of the SUV, XUV500. The diesel engine is a 1.5L mHawk140, Direct Injection Diesel Engine 5th-generation with a VGT, Variable Geometry Turbocharger.

This unique regenerative braking system in turn helps generate electricity or the battery is regenerated as and when the brakes are applied which is definitely one of a kind. And the battery can continue to be operated.
6. The neat and complete amalgamation of the electric motor engine and the regular diesel engine, ensures that the Hybrid XUV500 will be 18% more fuel efficient than a regular diesel or petrol vehicle.
7. As per the ARAI, Automotive Research Association of India, at present, the regular Mahindra XUV500 has a mileage of about 15kmpl. But as per the automaker, Mahindra, the mileage numbers will see an increase in the Hybrid version of the XUV500 because the diesel engine will be matched with the electric motor. The function of the motor is to support the engine with the car is travelling at lower speeds and gradually speeding up.
8. Also the Regenerative Braking Technology will be used to help reinforce energy when the car slows down.

In the new Mahindra XUV500 Hybrid

The XUV500 is definitely going to have impressive interiors and also a good exterior persona. Not to mention, it’s a first-of-a-kind electric and motor engine that is expected to power the vehicle to its hilt. When it comes to performance, it’s definitely not second to any regular engine mills and is cleaner, cheaper and ensures lower emission levels. Since it’s a Hybrid version, pricing is expected to be in the range of INR 13 lakhs and upwards. Fuel efficiency and economy and the SUV being largely eco-friendly would be one of the biggest selling points of the XUV500 Hybrid.
