The 6-Series GT (Gran Turismo) has been officially launched by BMW India at the 2018 Auto Expo. This is priced at INR 58.9 lakhs (ex-showroom, Delhi) for the 630i petrol version. As per reports, the 6-Series GT will receive its diesel engine option sometime later in 2018. This could be anytime in the second half of the year according to the latest reports.

The 6-Series GT will undergo local assembling at the BMW plant in Chennai. It is the global replacement for the 5-Series GT and will compete with the Mercedes-Benz E-Class LWB model here. There is the petrol 2.0 litre 252 hp four-cylinder mill that comes from the 5-Series. The 265 hp six cylinders 3.0-litre diesel and 190 hp 2.0-litre diesel engines are likely to be introduced in the future.
There will be 8-speed automatic gearboxes for all these engines. Air suspension will be available for premium ride and handling. The car will have the iDrive infotainment system backed by touch and gesture controls. There will also be a heads-up display unit and LED mood lighting. Automatic climate control is also available along with the Bowers & Wilkins Diamond Surround audio system complete with 16 partially illuminated speakers, output of 1400 watts and a ten channel amplifier.
