BMW India has steadily discontinued the niche models 6-Series Gran Coupe and M6 Gran Coupe. The 6-Series Gran Coupe first launched in 2012 and the M6 version followed in 2014. The former was first positioned lower than the 7-Series but with the latter getting some trims locally assembled, the 6-Series Gran Coupe became more expensive and a niche model of sorts. The 640d Eminence, 640d Design Pure Experience and M6 Gran Coupe models have priced at Rs. 1.20 crore, Rs. 1.30 crore and Rs. 1.85 crore respectively (all prices ex-showroom).
BMW will be introducing the 8-Series Coupe this year as a successor of sorts to the 6-Series Coupe and the Convertible version of the 6-Series will have its own 8-Series Convertible replacement. The 6-Series Gran Coupe will be in for a total overhaul although BMW may not use the 8-Series Gran Coupe nomenclature for the new version.
The 6-Series Gran Turismo is now available above the BMW 5-Series and this comes at Rs. 58.90 lakhs (ex-showroom).
