It is somewhere between a compact car and SUV/crossover. The first crossover from Maruti Suzuki’s stable is the S-Cross which has a length exceeding 4 metres and makes use of the platform used by the now-discontinued SX-4 sedan. According to the senior executive director (Engineering) at Maruti Suzuki India, CV Raman, the growing customer preferences for utility vehicles with their attractive and imposing designs has definitely inspired the entire design team to reimagine compact cars and lay the foundation for a total transformation of how a compact car looks and is perceived.
