There was a lot of speculation regarding the Datsun Go Cross concept vehicle that was showcased at the Auto Expo in 2016. This time round, it is set to become a reality in the form of the Datsun Cross which has been teased officially by Datsun. The global launch of the car is slated for the 18th of January and will take place in Jakarta, Indonesia. The Datsun Cross is bound to excite crossover fans with its aggressive design language and seems to be a tweaked version of the longer Datsun Go+ MPV which is already retailed in several markets.
The Datsun Cross gets black body cladding for extra ruggedness in tandem with high position fog lamps and a sculpted bumper. The car will have a 7 seater configuration which could make it an attractive prospect for the Indian market if it is launched here. The car may be displayed in its production-ready version at the 2018 Auto Expo as per some reports.
There might be the same HR12DE petrol engine used for the Datsun Cross like the Datsun Go+. The naturally aspirated three cylinder engines makes 68 PS and 104 Nm. The engine may be mated to a 5-speed manual transmission setup with a CVT option in place.
