Booking for Datsun Redi GO starts from May 1st 2016
The Datsun Redi Go on road price is something that has not been revealed yet though the bookings for the car start on the 1st of May. With deliveries starting first week of June, anticipation is rife for this exciting new compact hatchback which had its global premiere yesterday in New Delhi.
The Redi-Go retains most of the styling cues witnessed for the production spec version. Additionally, the Redi-Go has been announced as the most affordable offering from Datsun’s stable post its launch. This has led to speculation regarding its price. With the Redi-Go almost certain to be priced below the Renault Kwid which has an entry level price of INR 2.56 lakhs (ex-showroom), the car may be priced under INR 2.5 lakhs which will put the spotlight firmly on it in a price sensitive market like India.
The Redi-Go is being labeled as the country’s first compact urban crossover and will be launched in June 2016. The car makes use of the Renault Kwid’s CMF-A platform and sources are suggesting that the car will be priced at least INR 10,000 lower than its French cousin. The car will be competing with the Maruti Suzuki Alto 800, Renault Kwid and Hyundai Eon. The Redi-Go is aimed at first time car buyers in the country and comes with best-in-class ground clearance of 185mm. Additionally, the rugged and attractive stance of the hatchback is a major plus. The company has also claimed that the Redi-Go will offer best in class fuel economy which has already sent enthusiasts into a tizzy. The Tata Nano Twist currently offers the best fuel economy for any petrol car in India which is around 25.35 kmpl. In case the Redi-Go surpasses this mark, it will be the most frugal petrol car in the country.
Check On The Redi-Go will be produced at the Oragadam facility owned by the Renault-Nissan Alliance in Tamil Nadu. The Redi-Go can be a huge game changer for Datsun in India since the Go and Go+ have not witnessed major success here. The Redi-Go offers distinct value for money and this should catch on with young and first time consumers. The car offers a crossover-esque stance and aggressive design. The bonnet is nicely sculpted and the headlamps look attractive coupled with integrated turn lights and the signature hexagonal grille from Datsun and front bumper.
There are muscular character lines at the sides along with sportier alloy wheels. The rear looks fantastic with vertically-stacked tail lamps, a high mounted windscreen and a finely sculpted hatch. The Redi-Go will come with the three cylinder petrol 0.8 litre engine that is presently used in the Renault Kwid. The Kwid engine dishes out 100 Nm and 50 BHP. There will be a 5 speed manual transmission unit for the Redi-Go as well. Datsun has also announced the launch of the new Redi-Go app for the car that can be downloaded on the Android PlayStore while the i-Phone app will be coming soon.
The Redi-Go will be followed by a 7 seater full sized crossover called the Go Cross later this year as per Datsun’s announcements yesterday.
