All you need to know about the new BMW 520i
The new BMW petrol version which was launched in India on June 5th 2016 is an addition to its 5 Series and is known as the 520i which is priced at INR 54 lakhs. With the launch of this vehicle, BMW in India has a portfolio of both petrol and diesel versions to offer to its customers. It will be available across all dealerships in India. The car is a CBU and is entirely imported. Obtainable in an elite ‘Luxury Line’ design structure, this BMW too like all other caters to the luxury segment of the market.
Getting to know the exterior
When in comparison to the diesel version, there aren’t many changes which are evident. Looking into the features, this car comes equipped with dual beam projector headlamps, kidney grille which is signature to BMW, a front bumper which is sleek and houses the air dam, round fog lamps and air intakes. The rear of the car too remains unchanged. It comes appointed with LED tail lamps, large bumper and tipped tail pipes in dual chrome. The 18” alloy wheels too gets amped up to add to the appeal of the car.
The body colour comes in two options - Solid and Metallic. The solid colour is Alpine White and the metallic colours are Black Sapphire and Imperial Blue Brilliant Effect.

The cabin and the interiors are pretty similar to the existing diesel variant model. Although, customers get a choice and can choose from different upholstery options and colours which are Dakota Cinnamon Brown, Black, Dakota Veneto Beige, and Dakota Oyster with unique black stitching. Apart from this, the other trimmings which come with this vehicle are ambient light with mood light which you can select; a glass sunroof which is electronically controlled, multi-functional steering wheel covered in leather, driver and passenger seats which are both adjustable electrically, wooden panels and exquisite floor mats are amidst other features.

The all new petrol version, 520i is driven by a 2.0L Twin Power Turbo 4-cylinder engine which produces a power of 181BHP and a maximum torque of 270Nm. This engine is paired with an 8-speed steptronic automatic transmission. This transmission is so smooth that gear shifting is almost unnoticeable. The transmission joins forces with the engine and enables the engine to develop full power and efficiency. The car is able to go from 0-100km/h in 7.9 seconds. The top speed of the car is 233 km/h. This engine is made to offer better performance coupled with lesser emission and increased efficiency. Some of the technologies featured in this vehicle are auto start-stop, ECO PRO mode, intelligent lightweight construction, brake energy renewal and equal weight distribution among other attributes.
