The I-Pace could arrive earlier than the Audi E-Tron across dealerships later in 2018. This will be the first ever electric SUV launched by any premium automobile brand. Jaguar aimed at building a high performance SUV that was sporty, functional and roomy. The final design goes beyond being the electric version of the F-Pace SUV. The I-Pace taps into an electric powertrain and four door design with ample space in the cabin, four wheel drive and high performance akin to the Jaguar F-Type R rear wheel drive version.
Jaguar has confirmed that the car is already being tested across low temperatures in Sweden. The I-Pace makes use of a bespoke and brand new battery-electric car architecture. Jaguar has stated that this architecture is already ready for production. There are two permanent synchronous magnet electric motors for the I-Pace and these offer immediate responses from standstill along with four wheel drive and rapid distribution of torque between the axles. Close to 200 hp is dished out by each motor and the I-Pace concept makes 400 hp and 700 Nm. Jaguar has stated that 4 seconds will be the time taken to touch 97 kilometres per hour.

Fast charging abilities have previously been developed by leading carmakers. The fast charging abilities of the car are quite similar to the Mahindra e2o Plus which has a separate fast charging port in tandem with the standard charging port. There is the fast charging option for the P8 and P2 variants which needs only 75 and 90 minutes for the P2 and P8 variants respectively. This ensures 95% charge for the variants. Fast charging needs a three phase 10 kW 32 Amp charger.
