One of the most iconic brands of all time, the fabled Fiat 500 has turned 60 this year. To celebrate this milestone, the Italian manufacturer is releasing a special edition model called the Fiat 500 Sessantesimo set to debut at Geneva – that’s Italian for “sixtieth.” Distinguishing this special edition 500 is a new dual-color paint job named Dolcevita, with a three-layer white for the lower body and pastel ivory for the upper part. Fiat Chrysler Automobile (FCA) will be making only 250 models of this new limited edition Fiat 500-60th. The car is currently available for order and deliveries in the UK, which is set to begin from the 4th of July 2017.

History – With the production commencing in the year 1957, Fiat went on to produce over 4.2 million models of the 500 in its 18 years of production. The Italian automaker then stopped producing the car altogether, before bringing it back in 2007 after a 22-year hiatus. This time round, the all-new Fiat 500 was modern, smart, and more efficient, while retaining its traditional curves. Since then, some two million more Fiat 500s have been brought in the market, according to the FCA.
The new model – It complements the two-tone paint job which is a grey and burgundy waist rail, as well as chrome side mirror caps, an exclusive badge on the pillars, a numbered edition nameplate, tinted rear windows and unique 16 inch alloys. Inside, the Fiat 500 Sessantesimo is fitted with ivory leather-wrapped seats contrasted with burgundy seams for a pleasant interior. This Fiat 500 is significantly better equipped and designed than the original one. As standard, you will get a seven-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Bluetooth, USB, AUX, sat-nav, automatic climate control, cruise control and plenty of other technologies that didn’t exist in 1957.
Special features – Apple CarPlay and Android Auto Smartphone connectivity can also be added as optional extras. Fiat is offering the 500 Sessantesimo in three flavors. Two gasoline engines are available: a 0.9-liter engine with 68 horsepower and a 1.8-liter engine with 84-hp, along with a 95-hp 1.3-liter diesel. But unfortunately, Fiat has not planned for any birthday celebration for the 500 in the US, as it has so far only confirmed plans to sell the Sessantesimo in Europe on March 8, with deliveries commencing July 4.

Over six million Fiat 500s have been sold globally in the past six decades. Around 250 units of this model will make their presence in the UK market, while the first 60 units built will be completed with an individually numbered limited edition plate and certificate of authenticity. The new venture is coming with a lot of surprises. Precisely, this special Fiat 500-60th comes with the option of three engines- 68 bhp 1.2-litre petrol motor as well as two 0.9 litre Twin Air motors making 84 bhp and 104 bhp, respectively. Transmission options include a manual gearbox and Fiat's Dualogic gearbox. The company will be providing the car with vintage Fiat logos along with a bespoke 500-60th insignia, with the numbers '6' and '0' in red incorporated into the last two figures of the 500 logo.
