Compact SUV is one of the most interesting segments in India. The customers in the segment want an SUV with the practicality and running cost of a hatchback. Ford Ecosport was the pioneer in the segment and was enjoying a great run till the competition start flocking with their models. Currently, Mahindra TUV 300, Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza and Tata’s recently launched Nexon jostle for space along with the Ecosport in the compact SUV segment. In view of increased competition and volume pressures, Ford gave a mid-life makeover for their most important car in India. Here we do a quick comparison of the cars in the compact SUV segment.
Maruti was a little late to join the party. But, it more than compensated with the consistent 10,000 plus unit sales every month. Vitara Brezza currently is the largest selling compact SUV in the country.

Tata was always known for their full-sized SUVs. However, with the increased popularity of the compact SUV segment and the availability of a capable platform (which underpins the Zest and Bolt), Tata also recently forayed into the segment with their Nexon. Tata introduced us to this cute little SUV first in the 2016 Auto Expo.
While all other car manufacturers tried to make an SUV out of a hatchback, Mahindra actually made a smaller SUV from their mighty Mahindra Scorpio.
