Tata Motors is rapidly turning around its operations and posted 52% of growth for December, 2017. Sales volumes stood at 54, 627 units cumulatively for the company’s commercial and passenger vehicles for the month in comparison to 35, 825 units in sales for December, 2016. The sales volumes of commercial vehicles stood at 40, 447 units for December, 2017 which indicates 62% of growth as compared to 24, 998 units sold in December, 2016. There has been steady recovery in the commercial vehicle segment and customer demand is also going up with the introduction of the new BS4 vehicles. The cumulative sales volumes for commercial vehicles have touched 269, 536 units for the period between April and December, 2017. This indicates 17% of growth in comparison to the same period last year.
The heavy and medium commercial vehicle segment witnessed positive growth with 15, 828 units sold, representing an increase of 83% as compared to the last year. The I&LCV truck category had growth of 78% and sales figures of 5, 103 units while the pickup segment saw 43% of growth coupled with sales figures of 4, 529 units. The Mega lineup and Xenon Yodha continue their hold on this segment. The SCV category had sales volumes of 10, 576 units, thereby witnessing 60% of growth and the Ace XL range has contributed hugely to this feat. The commercial passenger carrier category which includes buses, had sales figures of 4, 411 units and overall growth of 19% in comparison to last year.
Tata Motors sold 14, 180 units in the passenger vehicle segment for December, 2017, as compared to 10, 827 units sold in December, 2016. This represents growth of 31% for the company and this was the highest sales volumes in December for passenger vehicles ever since the year 2012. This was also the highest monthly sales figures over the last 6 years for Tata Motors. There was 406% of growth witnessed by the utility vehicle category due to healthy demand for the Hexa and newly introduced Nexon compact SUV. Cumulative sales volumes touched 1, 29, 229 units for Tata Motors between April and December, 2017, in comparison to 1, 12, 539 units sold in the same period in 2016. This indicates 15% of growth overall.

With regard to exports, Tata Motors exported 6, 044 units of its commercial vehicles in December, 2017 and this indicates 26% of growth in comparison to December, 2016. This is the highest sales mark that has been achieved in 2017 as well. The market share of Tata Motors in case of commercial vehicles globally remains healthy and has only grown in the present fiscal.
