There are several options available these days in terms of AMT (automated manual transmission) equipped cars in India. Almost all leading manufacturers are offering automatic options for their models across segments.

Here’s taking a look at the automatic cars in India that you can buy for under Rs. 6 lakhs.

  • Tata Nano AMT- The Nano is India’s cheapest car with automatic transmission and comes for anything between Rs. 3.14-3.34 lakhs. The GenX Nano AMT gets the MPFI 2-cylinder 624 cc petrol mill.
  • Renault Kwid AMT- Another reasonably priced proposition, the Renault Kwid gets the Easy-R or AMT 5-speed unit and the top-end RXT variant with AMT comes for Rs. 3.87-4.64 lakhs.
  • Datsun Redi-Go AMT- The Datsun Redi-Go AMT gets a three cylinder 1.0 litre petrol mill that makes 68 BHP and 91 Nm. There is the Rush Hour mode and Dual Driving mode on offer. This version is priced between Rs. 3.96-4.05 lakhs.
  • Maruti Suzuki Alto AGS- Priced at Rs. 4.18 lakhs on an average, the Alto AGS gets a responsive gearbox with the reliable 1.0 litre engine that offers 24 kilometres per litre in terms of fuel economy.
  • Maruti Suzuki WagonR AGS- The Maruti Suzuki WagonR AGS is another good proposition. The AMT option is available for the VXi+ variant and eases the overall driving experience. There is better styling in addition to several new additions like the chrome design element in the center and wraparound projector headlights. There is a bigger and new bumper in front. The engine is the three cylinder 1.0 litre 67 BHP mill that also makes 90 Nm. The WagonR AGS is priced between Rs. 4.19-5.24 lakhs.
  • Maruti Suzuki Celerio AGS- The Maruti Suzuki Celerio was the first car from the brand to get AMT back in the year 2014. This is a highly successful car for the brand and the EZ Drive technology is a major plus point. There is peak power of 67 BHP while 90 Nm of torque is also produced by the engine in this variant. There is a 5-speed manual transmission unit available as well. Prices range between Rs. 4.95-5.38 lakhs.
  • Tata Tiago AMT- The Tata Tiago AMT was launched back in March 2017 and competes with rivals like the Hyundai Grand i10, Maruti Suzuki Celerio and others. The Tiago AMT comes in the XZA and XTA trims. There is the Easy-Shift AMT unit that has been sourced from Magnetti Marelli and this is the same unit that is used for the Nano and Zest models. The AMT unit is mated to the three cylinder 1.2 litre petrol Revotron engine that makes 84 BHP and 114 Nm of peak torque. The Tiago Easy Shift AMT comes with Neutral, Automatic, Manual and Reverse gear positions along with City and Sport driving modes. The manual version enables faster shifting on the AMT unit. There is the creep feature which enables crawling when the foot is eased off from the brake pedal minus the need for pressing the accelerator. This helps during hill climbing and other similar pursuits. Prices for this version range between Rs. 4.99-5.58 lakhs.
  • Maruti Suzuki Ignis AGS- Maruti Suzuki launched the Ignis in 2017 and the AMT option was introduced for both diesel and petrol variants. The AMT option comes for the Zeta and Delta variants of the car. There are the K-Series 1.2 litre petrol and DDiS 1.3 litre diesel engine options in addition to 5-speed manual and automatic transmission units. Prices range between Rs. 5.82-7.04 lakhs.
  • Tata Tigor AMT- The Tigor AMT has two variants, namely the XZA and XTA. The Tigor AMT is priced between Rs. 5.98-6.47 lakhs. There is the same petrol Revotron 1.2 litre engine that dishes out 84 BHP and 114 Nm. The same AMT unit as the Tiago is used here. There are Reverse, Neutral and Automatic options for the gearbox in addition to Manual and sports modes.
