Ford is all set to unveil its brand-new compact utility vehicle for Indian audience as it would be the global premiere of this product. It is referred as Freestyle, which would be introduced in India for the first time. Though the model has been under works for a while, it was recently viewed without mask unveiling the new offering. Based on the current generation of Figo Hatchback, the Ford Figo Cross has come up with new features, an updated design, and additional body cladding. With this new product, the Ford will step up into a new segment and takes the likes of Hyundai i20 Active, Fiat Urban Cross, and Toyota Etios Cross.
To give the vehicle a sporty look, there will be sweptback headlamps and a new hexagonal grille that takes inspiration from Mustang. The bumper receives additional body cladding that includes a faux bash plate. In order to give a rugged appeal, the black plastic inserts are running on the wheel arches, across the sides, and would also be seen on the rear bumper. Together with roof rails, you will also get split racing stripes over the vehicle. Its copper brown shades immediately remind us the Punto based Fiat Aventura. But, there are certain features being missed out by the vehicle like LED DRLs and projector lens that are quite common on smaller cars.
When it comes to the interior, this new compact utility vehicle receives an updated dashboard. More prominently, there is a new & massive floating infotainment system that seems to be obtained from the EcoSport facelift. Below the infotainment system, you will able to see some buttons & dials. There are air-con vents available on either side near the center console. This system supports Android Auto, Apple CarPlay, and SYNC3 connectivity system. But, the absence of automatic climatic control will surely disappoint the users. It receives a 1.2 L petrol engine with three cylinders that will churn out a maximum power of 94 bhp and peak torque of 120 Nm. There is also a new five-speed manual transmission.
You may believe it or not, this compact utility vehicle would share certain parts and components with Figo hatchback, however, the design is considered to all-new with a brand-new instrument cluster, dashboard, center console, and much more. The new crossover will also get a pair of LED taillamps, large roof rails, and larger sporty alloy wheels. With integrated turn-signal lights, the OVRMs are colored in black and there will be a chrome strip that runs across the base of windows and door handles. On the side of crossover, you will get lots of black treatment along with some chrome elements. The exterior of the vehicle comes with an all-new front bumper equipped with lots of muscles to show with the addition of round fog lamps and bumper cladding. This additional body cladding gives the vehicle a pumped-up version of Figo hatchback in addition to its crossover nature. This new crossover from Ford would command a bit higher price tag as compared to its sibling.
