Honda City is one of the most successful sedan in the executive sedan for Honda in India. Honda was ruling the roost in the segment for quite a long time since its introduction almost two decades back. However, with increase in fuel prices and absence of a diesel motor City started slipping from its number one position in the segment. Honda came back strongly in 2013 by introducing a much-needed diesel mill and regained the top spot. However, recently Honda has again been replaced by Maruti’s capable and versatile Ciaz.
Honda has come up with a yet another upgrade for their most important car in the line-up to regain the top spot. Can it do?
Honda has carried out some minor tweaks at the front as well as the rear to give a fresher and matured look to the City. The front gets a redesigned and bigger head lamps with LED DRLs integrated standard across all the variants. The top end trims get LEDs for the headlamps as well.
The thick chrome grille has been toned down and looks classy and modern rather than the geeky look of the older variant. The changes at the rear include a set of restyled rear lamps with LED treatment (limited to the ZX variant only). The lower part of the rear bumper gets a black plastic honeycomb pattern which extends to the reflectors as well. The Honda badge is removed from the boot lid and the City badge moves from right to the top-left. Also the restyled bumpers give the new City a sharper and edgy look. The car also gets electric sunroof for the ZX and VX variants. The side profile has no changes except for the new diamond cut 16-inch alloy wheels which way look better and substantial than the ones on the older model. The minor tweaks has rendered an upmarket look for the car compared to the older variant.

The basic layout of the dashboard remains the same. The major change to notice is the bigger and upgraded infotainment system. The dashboard design remains trendy, however, Honda has not done anything for the scratchy and shiny plastics inside. City has class leading space with adequate leg and shoulder room at the front as well the rear. The front seats offers great support in all directions and is a nice place to be in. The rear passengers get AC blowers and has lots of space. The rear bench seat offers adequate under thigh support, comfortable backrest angle and center armrest with cup holders.
