Honda Cars India has officially listed the upcoming Civic on its website. This hints at an imminent launch of the premium sedan which has been shown at the 2018 Auto Expo. The 10th generation Civic could launch soon and has been listed in tandem with the brand new Honda Amaze.
The new Civic gets an externally appealing design language which is also sporty with new LED tail lamps and headlamps and a chrome grille. There are new character lines and 17-inch alloy wheels. The length, width and height figures stand at 4630 mm, 1798 mm and 1415 mm respectively. The wheelbase stands at 2700 mm. The Civic sedan version will come to India while it has hatchback and coupe versions worldwide as well.
The Civic gets the i-VTEC 1.8-litre engine that dishes out 140 BHP while there is the 1.6-litre i-DTEC diesel mill that produces 120 BHP and 300 Nm. Honda’s plant at Tapukara, Rajasthan, will be locally producing the diesel engine. There will be a 6-speed manual transmission unit available along with a CVT option for the petrol engine.
The Civic will be introduced as a CKD and will be priced between Rs. 13-18 lakhs (ex-showroom). It will take on established rivals like the Toyota Corolla Altis, Volkswagen Jetta, Hyundai Elantra and Skoda Octavia in the premium sedan category.
