The 2018 Auto Expo is expected to witness several exciting new car launches and the facelifted 2018 Hyundai i20 could be one of them. Hyundai Motor India Limited (HMIL) is reportedly planning to launch the new facelifted 2018 i20 officially at the Auto Expo along with holding the world premiere for the same. In case this takes place as planned, one can expect deliveries to commence from the end of February or early March itself.
What makes things more interesting is that Hyundai India is expected to ditch the four speed automatic transmission unit and the 1.4 litre petrol engine option for the i20 altogether. The 1.2 litre petrol engine will be retained along with the 1.4 litre diesel engine which will be paired to a 6-speed manual transmission unit like the present model as per reports. The 1.2 litre petrol engine will be paired to a 5-speed manual transmission unit and will have a CVT option according to reports.

This is expected to boost fuel economy figures which currently stand at around 18.20 kmpl for the four speed automatic transmission setup and the 1.4 litre petrol engine. There will be no paddle shifters for the 2018 i20 at present although they may be introduced sometime in the future. The CVT option may not be limited to only the Magna trim and may be available for the Sport, Asta and Asta (O) grades as well.
