Kia Motors has released teaser images of its attractive SP Concept which is a preview of an SUV that will be exclusively made for the Indian market. This will be debuted at the 2018 Auto Expo and this SP Concept will draw inspiration from Indian heritage and will be moving the design language of the company in a bolder and more premium direction. The SP Concept may rival the Hyundai Creta in the Indian market and will come with front and rear LED lights and a prominent sloping roof. There are chunky wheel arches along with a contrasting roof.

The SP Concept may use a new platform that will also be used in the brand new Hyundai Creta which is expected to launch in the year 2020. Hyundai is planning to offer the second generation Creta in 5 and 7 seater configurations and Kia Motors may go the same route with its new SP Concept. There may be a new BS-VI compliant 1.5 litre diesel engine which could be shared with the new Hyundai Creta in tandem with the petrol 1.6 litre engine which may get an electric option as well. There could be 6-speed manual and automatic gearboxes for the SUV which may also be sourced from the Creta.
The Concept SP will be manufactured at the 536 acre plant owned by Kia at Andhra Pradesh’s Anantapur and the production model is expected to be launched in the second half of the year 2019. Kia will also be displaying 16 other models at the 2018 Auto Expo including several plug-in hybrids, electric vehicles and the sports sedan Stinger.
