The Korean carmaker Kia would be featuring its cars for the first time at Auto Expo 2018. The company would not leave any stone unturned in making a great impression. The spotlight would definitely be on the SUV concept that is a precursor to the made-for-India model to be on sale in 2019. Some of the following cars would be on display:
The Kia Picanto looks like a distant cousin of the Hyundai Grand i10. Both the hatchbacks are built on the same platform, but the car looks more like the i10 than the Grand i10. The car offers 67 hp and 95 Nm with a 1.0-litre petrol engine.
The Kia Rio sits higher up the Picanto in the pecking order. The Rio is a rival of the Maruti Baleno, the Hyundai i20 and the Honda Jazz. Kia might be trimming the car below 4 meters to qualify for the excise sops on the small cars if the car is brought to India. The Kia Cerato is a sedan sold in the US market as a rival to the Hyundai Elantra, the Honda Civic and the Skoda Octavia. The car has a 1.6-litre petrol engine that is tuned to offer 157 Nm of torque and 130 hp of power. The car has a 6-speed automatic transmission. The car is just a little smaller than the Elantra.
The Kia Optima offers the perfect answer to the Skoda Superb, the Toyota Camry, and the Honda Accord. The Optima is a smart sedan that would offer a spacious cabin. It is available abroad with a 2.0-litre petrol engine that would produce 143 hp of power and 204 Nm of torque. The car offers a six-speed automatic transmission.
The Kia Sportage, with a 2.0-litre diesel engine offering 185 hp of power and 402 Nm of torque is the perfect SUV for Indian markets.
The Kia Niro is a crossover is a hybrid model but comes with a 1.6-liter petrol engine, offering 141 hp.
