Hyundai Tucson - A Synopsis

The South Korean automaker, Hyundai has many vehicles in its stable and this includes hatchbacks, sedans, crossover SUVs and SUVs. The crossover SUV, the Hyundai Tucson will be placed in between its siblings, the well-performing Creta, and the Santa Fe. This vehicle is being launched again this year and was showcased in the Auto Expo 2016. On its second appearance in the Indian market, expectations are rife that this time it would definitely make a place for itself in the SUV segment. Contemporarily designed, it comes in two diesel CRDi engine trims and offers both the AWD and the FWD modes.

Also the Tucson is equipped with the world’s first shock absorber mounting structure and this time round, it is packaged and presented well so as to make an impact on its second homecoming.

The Hyundai Tucson that will be launched sometime in 2016, sports a neat, appealing body structure. Basically, it has undergone a couple cosmetic changes which render the vehicle its very captivating façade. The external fascia looks aggressive and has a rugged feel to it which gives the vehicle an increased appeal. The vehicle sports the signature radiator grille that Hyundai is known for and which is featured in its other sibling SUVs too. The placement of the headlamps, the lights and its side and rear profiles are neatly placed and crafted. It definitely makes for an interesting vehicle and its launch is awaited.

The interiors and the cabin design of the Hyundai Tucson are exclusive. All features are in its place and overall work towards giving a gratifying driving experience. Ergonomics are widely in use, the driver’s seat seems like a cockpit and the dashboard design, and the instrument cluster only adds to its overall appeal. The dual toned color theme, the comfortable seating and matching upholstery and a couple innovative features turns this car’s interiors, designing and detailing several notches higher.

The cabin space is comfortable and can easily accommodate five occupants and there is good legroom, headroom and also shoulder room. The boot space is also befitting the overall vehicle size and requirement.

Hyundai Tucson Engine Specs

The facelifted, Hyundai Tucson is offered with the same technical specifications and engine specs as its European counterparts. Accordingly, Hyundai offers two diesel trims that come in a 4-cylinder 16 valves, 1.6L, and 2.0L engine capacities. Both engines are set in the CRDi fuel system and it offers good fuel economy both within the city and on the highway. The top speeds for the two engines range from 180 to 190kmph and 185 to 195kmph respectively. Interestingly, it takes 11 seconds to reach 100kmph from standstill in the 1.6L engine. And it takes about 9.5 seconds to reach a 100kmph limit in the 2.0L diesel engine.

Hyundai Tucson Pricing and Nearest Competition

The pricing for the Hyundai Tucson could be in the range of INR 17 lakhs. The Hyundai Tucson enters the toughly contested SUV segment and its nearest competitors include the Mahindra XUV 500, Isuzu MU 7, Mahindra Ssangyong Rexton and others in this segment.

IBB Verdict

The updated Hyundai Tucson was showcased in the Auto Expo 2016. This biennial event was held in New Delhi this year, from February 5th to 9th.

The Hyundai Tucson is again foraying into the Indian market, it had made its debut sometime back, but owing to not so good market response and other issues, it was discontinued in India. But eventually, Hyundai made effective changes both in its appearance, features, engine and packaged it well and reintroduced it into the crowded SUV segment in India. It will be released in India in the end of 2016. The vehicle brought back due to popular demand and auto enthusiasts already being aware of this vehicle, once launched again, have to wait and see the market response this time.
