Lamborghini is not considering the establishment of any manufacturing plant in India. There were earlier reports of the iconic automobile brand considering a new electric vehicle plant in Maharashtra and the confusion seems to have been created due to statements were given by senior MIDC (Maharashtra Industrial Development Corporation) officials who reported that the brand would be announcing its plans at the Magnetic Maharashtra Summit which will be held in Mumbai for investors.
The confusion emanated from reports of Tonino Lamborghini visiting this summit and announcing the brand’s plans accordingly. However, Sharad Agarwal, the Head of Lamborghini India, has firmly stated that the brand does not have any such plans to set up a manufacturing unit in Maharashtra. He also clarified that the Tonino Lamborghini Group is different from the Automobili Lamborghini Group headed by Stefano Domencali, it's Chief Executive Officer although both brands have an agreement for using the Lamborghini nomenclature and bull in the shield logo.
It would possibly make sense for Lamborghini to produce vehicles in India considering the increase in duties to 25% from 20% courtesy the 2018 Union Budget. However, the brand does not have any such plans at present.
