Ahead of its launch scheduled for 16th May 2017, Maruti officially unveiled the new 2017 Dzire. The car can be booked ahead of its launch by paying a token amount of INR 11,000. This is the 3rd generation Dzire and this time comes with major changes on the exterior as well as interiors.
The car adopts the Baleno’s 'Heartect' platform with high tensile steel which helps in reducing the weight and improving body strength. The new Dzire is styled on the new Swift canvass and carry forward many elements of its hatchback counterpart. Also, the new Swift will get a whole host of new features like the smart key, rear air con vents, automatic climate control and Maruti’s SmartPlay infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.

The new front end is completely restyled and render a more aggressive and sleeker stance. The car gets a new set of projector headlamps with DRLs. The face is dominated by a new and large hexagonal grille with large air dam below. The side profile is influenced by the Baleno and has a smooth flow design language. This time Maruti could blend the boot pretty well into the design and the boot, not at all looks like an afterthought. The car gets a pair of new LED tail lamps.
The height of the car is reduced by 40mm while the wheelbase is increased by an impressive 90mm. The width is also increased by 40mm which will increase the cabin space. Also, the new Dzire gets a larger boot than the outgoing model (58 liters more than the old model).
The interiors are also heavily reworked and get a new dashboard design. The new three-layered dashboard looks completely new and feels more up-market. The car gets a flat bottom sporty steering wheel with mounted control switches. The twin-pod instrument cluster is also entirely new.
The tried and tested 1.2-litre K-Series petrol and 1.3-litre DDiS diesel engines will continue to power the new Dzire. The engines are mated either to a five-speed manual or an AMT (Maruti Auto Gear Shift). We expect a slight increase in price with the base variant LXi ABS starting around INR 5.90 lakh to INR 9 lakh for the top-end ZDi AMT.
