Since its launch in October 2015, Maruti Baleno has been receiving overwhelming responses from the car buying public in India. If you book the car now, you should be really fortunate to get the car in the first quarter of the calendar year 2017. IBB quick facts
1.0 Liter Boosterjet engine:
The major difference between the current petrol model and this one is the engine. Maruti has been launching countless limited editions of the Swift with just cosmetic upgrades, but not in this case. The Baleno RS gets a brand new direct-injection, turbocharged, 3-cylinder petrol motor under the hood. This little motor dispenses a class-leading figure of 111 bhp and 170 Nm of maximum torque. It is the first turbocharged petrol engine by Maruti Suzuki in India. The engine will be mated to a six-speed auto transmission or a five-speed manual transmission.
The basic silhouette remains the same. However, the car will come with skirts, alloys, and spoilers to render a sporty character to the car.
All four wheels get disc brakes:
Faster the car, better the brakes should be. RS will come with disc brakes on all four wheels. Dual airbags and ABS will be standard fitment as well.
The Baleno RS comes with a claimed fuel efficiency of 21.4 Kmpl. Being a small turbocharged engine, the Boosterjet proves to be more fuel-efficient than the naturally aspirated 1.2-liter motor.
The car will be priced at a premium over the current Baleno petrol and variants. The car is expected to be priced at around Rs 8.50 lakh. As Maruti has already secured sales figures with the existing set of Balenos (petrol and diesel) Maruti will not be just looking for sales numbers in the case of Baleno RS. After all, exclusivity comes at a price.
The car will be competing against the likes of the Polo GT TSI.
Maruti is expected to bring the car during Diwali in India.

Baleno RS will come with a segment first turbocharged petrol engine in India. Turbocharging a small engine increases the power output without compromising fuel efficiency. The performance of the boosterjet on the Baleno RS will be closely watched by the auto industry, as the success of this engine can result in more and more automobile manufacturers adopting the turbocharge route for giving a new lease of life to their small and medium capacity petrol motors.
