Baleno RS, unveiled at the 2016 Delhi auto Expo is slated for launch on 3rd March 2017. The major highlight in addition to style differentiation from the normal Baleno is the most anticipated Boosterjet petrol motor under the RS hood. This 1.0-Litre engine is a three-cylinder unit aided with direct injection and has a claimed peak power of 111 hp.
This car is definitely going to create a substantial stir in the performance hatchback segment in India and will be competing against the likes of VW Polo GT TSI and Fiat Abarth Punto. What makes these 111 horses exciting is the low kerb weight of this car, Baleno tips the weighing scale at an impressive 950 Kg. For quick reference, the Polo GT TSI weighs 1140 Kg and the Abarth Punto 1198 Kg.

The RS will get additional style elements to differentiate it from the humdrum Baleno. The basic silhouette remains the same but the car will come with skirts, alloys and spoilers to render a sporty character to the car. Also, the car will get disc brakes on all four wheels to handle the additional power on tap.
The Baleno RS will only come in the top-end fully loaded Alpha trim. Maruti has already started the booking for the new RS through their flagship Nexa showrooms all India.
