Compact SUV from Mahindra
Compact SUV is the most buzzing segment in the country at the moment. All and sundry want to have their share of the pie in this exciting segment. It is interesting to note that Mahindra was late to join the compact SUV bandwagon with the TUV 300.

Now, Mahindra wants to compensate for the late entry by launching more models in the already-crowded compact SUV segment - A crossover based on the Ssangyong Tivoli X100 platform and the original Tivoli is also on the cards.

The external design or interior details are yet to be released. However, the car’s design will be heavily influenced by the existing Ssangyong Tivoli sold in Europe. The car will be designed at the company’s recently acquired Italian design house, Pininfarina.

While the Ssangyong Tivoli is an impressive looking car; this one, based on the Tivoli will have more aggressive design cues. The car will be powered by a 1.5-litre petrol and 1.6-litre diesel motor (currently doing duty in the Ssangyong Tivoli).
Mahindra has also got plans to bring the original Ssangyong Tivoli to India. Mahindra showcased the Tivoli at the last Delhi Auto Expo to gauge public response and is planning a launch for the Tivoli by December this year.

Mahindra would be building the car here, opposed to the CKD route they adopted for the Rexton to keep costs under control. The car measures above 4 meters and will be competing against the likes of Hyundai Creta and Renault Duster.

The car will have both petrol and diesel engine options.
- 1.6 Litre Petrol: 126 bhp & 160 Nm
- 1.6 Litre Diesel: 113 bhp & 300 Nm
The car will have a 6-Speed manual or 6-Speed automatic transmission. The car is expected to be priced in the Rs 9-13 lakh price range and will be slotted below the Mahindra XUV500.
