Tiago is doing pretty well in the Indian car market for Tata. Inspired by the success of the Tiago, Tata is all set to launch the Tiago based compact car in India, the Kite. Tata will be slotting the car between the aging Indigo eCS and Tata Zest. Eventually, Indigo CS will be removed from Tata’s portfolio.
The car is unmistakably based on the Tiago hatchback; however, Tata has ensured that It doesn’t look like a Tiago with the boot stuck on it. The car gets a nice looking coupe-like roof line which nicely blends with the boot. The interior is a straight lift from the Tiago and details are yet to be known.

Knowing Tata well, they will be playing the value game by offering loads of equipment and features at an affordable price point. Kite 5 will get a class leading 421-liter boot and we expect the Kite to come with a beige interior to differentiate it from its hatchback sibling.
Tata Kite will come with the same engine that is powering the Tiago - the 1.05 litre Revotorq diesel and 1.2 litre Revotron petrol engines. The car will get an AMT box in addition to the manual gearbox and is expected to be priced in the Rs 4.75 Lakhs to Rs 6.5 Lakhs price range (ex-showroom).

Tata Kite will be competing against the likes of Maruti Swift Dzire, Honda Amaze, Hyundai Xcent, Ford Figo Aspire and the recently launched VW Ameo. The car is expected to be launched in December 2016, during the festive season.
Once launched, the Tata kite 5 will intensify the competition in the already crowded compact sedan segment in India. With the Kite 5, Tata will be able to regain the numbers which it lost to the competition in the compact sedan segment, once launched in India.
