Audi Cars in India

Key takeaways:

  • Performance of the RS7 has been increased by 44BHP to 605BHP.
  • With Overboost feature, torque can go up from 700Nm to 750Nm.
  • Practical car packed with performance.

One of the more practical performance cars in the market, Audi RS7 has been recently introduced by Audi India in the country and it’s put forth a more powerful version and appropriately calling it the ‘RS7 Performance.’ This coupe is priced at a whopping INR 1,59,65,000 crore.

Since we are talking about power and performance, let’s see what this power-packed performance vehicle is made of. It has a 4.0L TFSI turbocharged petrol engine which generates a power of 596BHP, 44BHP more than the outgoing model at 6100-6800rpm. There is an increase in the maximum rpm as well to 200 revs. The torque of this engine is 700Nm at 1750-6000rpm. A highlight worth mentioning is the overboost function; its primary function allows the driver to amplify the torque temporarily from 750Nm at 2500-7500rpm. The engine is mated to an 8 speed tiptronic AMT and the power is sent to all four wheels.

Few key high points in the Audi RS7 Performance is that it is 15% lighter than the outgoing version as over 20% aluminium is used in its construction. A reduction in weight has caused the power-to-weight ratio to go up which enables this performance car to do 0-100kmph in 3.7 seconds. The top speed of this vehicle is 280kmph and with the use of the dynamic package plus, this can be pushed to 305kmph.

Audi has put a system in place which works side by side with COD (Cylinder on Demand) and this improves fuel efficiency. It works by activating only 4 of the 8 cylinders – it works based on what is necessary. And good fuel efficiency too is ensured by the automaker.

The exterior is quite differently designed and now has a unique coupe like shape. The front fascia is tweaked and has aggressive looking bumpers, a honey comb grille in glossy black, LED daytime running lights where optionally you can choose the Matrix LED headlamps as well and the air intakes have become larger. Additionally, few add-on parts now have finishing in matte titanium. The grille also houses the Quattro logo. At the rear, the taillights have LED lights and turn signals integrated in them, wide windscreen which hosts a defogger and dual exhaust tailpipes.

You can take the customization to the next level, for this the brand is offering Matte aluminium and Carbon – two style packages. Furthermore, the standard options for the wheels are 20inch aluminium but you can choose to move it up to 21inch too. The paint options available for this version are Sepang Blue, Floret Silver, Mythos Black and Glacier White.

Large sports seats upholstered in Valcona leather and prominent side bolsters in addition to head restraints is just what makes the seating feel like heaven. Carbon inlays with highlights of aluminium and piano black is how the cabin is designed. Furthermore, perforated leather covers the gearshift knob, a revamped instrument cluster, shift paddles, air outlet controls, multi-functional steering wheel with mounted controls, four zone climate control, cruise control, MMI infotainment system which is high performance and has a processer for graphics and the Quattro logo. In addition, there is plenty of RS badging seen throughout the cabin. Few additional and optional features include ceramic disc brakes, independent sports air suspension, dynamic ride control, RS exhaust system and more.
