Toyota just launched a new variant of their most popular car in their Indian lineup and the king of the premium MPV segment, the Innova Crysta. The variant is launched to commemorate the first anniversary of the Innova Crysta in India. The updates are mostly limited to the cosmetics of the car and add an overall sporty feel to the MPV.
The first thing that catches the eye is t he new sporty ‘wildfire red’ colour of the car. The face of the car gets a glossy black grille with chrome inserts.The front bumper, rear bumper and the sides get sporty matt black skirts with chrome inserts. The headlamp cluster also gets black treatment inside imparting a smokey treatment to accentuate the sporty intentions of the car. The tail also gets the black treatment and the Touring Sport badge. The car gets black 16-inch alloy wheels (note that the top-end Z variant gets 17-inchers). The black alloys complement the sporty red shade very well.
Like the exterior, the basic design of the dashboard remains the same. However, Toyota has added some elements to render a sporty feel to the interiors as well. The dash gets redwood finish insert and the seats finished in black leather is stitched with sporty red threads.The instrument console gets red illumination instead of the standard blue hue.

As mentioned earlier, the mechanicals remains the same compared to the standard Crysta variant. The Sport Touring can be had in both diesel and petrol avatars. The diesel is the 2.4-litre manual that generates a peak power of 148hp and turning torque of 343Nm. The larger 2.7-litre petrol power pot dispenses a peak power of 164hp and 245Nm torque. Also, the Sport Touring gets an automatic option as well. The diesel automatic is fitted with a 2.8-litre engine that generates 172hp and 360Nm. The engine is coupled to a 6-speed automatic gearbox.

The Sport Touring will definitely add zing to an already strong product in the Toyota stable. The car retains the time-tested attributes of the Innova and adds a sporty flavour to it.
