Ford’s teaser of its new EcoSport Storm compact SUV for the Brazilian market was soon followed by the images of the model surfacing online. The leaked images suggest that this rugged-looking SUV will receive certain tweaks to its styling, as was seen in the teaser. This will include the F-150 Raptor-like grille lettering, ‘Storm’ badging and a matte black finish all around, and 17-inch alloy wheels. The other aspects will include, two black strips extended over the bonnet and small air vents at the beginning of the A-pillars. The side profile will flaunt black outside rear view mirrors, black door handles, a back beltline moulding, black fender flares etc. while the top stance sports roof rails, black cross roof racks and a sunroof.
The leak also revealed that along with the visual changes, the EcoSport Storm will be accompanied by four-wheel drive coupled to the 2.0-litre Direct Flex engine that produces different outputs based on the fuel used. It makes 170hp and 202Nm of torque of petrol, and 176hp and 221Nm of peak torque on ethanol. The motor is mated to a six-speed manual transmission. The North American model is also equipped with the option of 2.0litre petrol engine with four-wheel drive.

The interior flaunts a dual-tone orange and grey finish on the centre console which houses the AC controls, and a 7.0inch touchscreen infotainment system. The Indian automobile market will see the EcoSport being available with a new 123hp, 1.5litre Dragon petrol engine and a 100hp, 1.5litre diesel motor. While it is not yet certain if Ford will bring the EcoSport Storm to Indian car-buyers, the American automaker is expected to launch the revamped Mustang, face-lifted versions of the Figo and Aspire, and a cross-hatch based on the Figo in the forthcoming months.
