1.75 Lakhs enquiries, 2.7 million hits on the official website and 21,000 plus bookings within one month of launch! We are not talking about a car from Maruti Suzuki or even Hyundai. These are the numbers achieved by Mahindra’s latest offering in the Indian car market, the KUV 100. With the KUV 100, Mahindra has created a new segment in India, the micro SUV segment to cash in the SUV craze in the country.
What made KUV 100 a success in India?
Polarizing Design: Mahindra’s philosophy of introducing ‘Like it or Hate it’ design language has worked out well right from the XUV 500 days. Mahindra has done a great job infusing SUV ingredients on a hatchback template. The car looks butch and brawny head on, the muscular lines on the sides (though not all perfect) and the spider alloys gives it an SUV flavor. The rear has got more of a subtle treatment with a hatchback theme. The car stands apart from the Grand i10, Suzuki Swift and the Ford Figo which are its direct competition. And more importantly, the design starts growing on you.

Feature Rich and Innovative Interiors: Mahindra KUV 100 comes with a spacious interior for its segment standards. Ample legroom, shoulder room, and headroom along with well-finished plastics make the interior a pleasant place. The car also has an innovative way to accommodate a sixth passenger at the front, which gives it a distinct advantage over the segment mates. Also, the car comes strapped with loads of features like inbuilt Driver Information System, Mahindra Blue Sense App connectivity, 3.5-inch display screen infotainment system, hands-free blue tooth call connectivity and cooled glove box to name a few.

Serious on Safety: We really appreciate the efforts put by Mahindra to ensure all the variants right from the base K2 variant comes strapped with driver side airbag and ABS with EBD. Mahindra also offers passenger airbags all across the variants as an optional extra.
Falcon Engines: Mahindra introduced a new line of mFalcon engines on the KUV 100. Also, Mahindra surprised the auto world with its first ever indigenously petrol powered motor. The frugal 3-cylinder units have sufficient power on tap. The gasoline powered unit churns out 82 bhp and 115 Nm torque whereas the oil burner dispenses 77 bhp and 190 Nm torque. These figures are in line with the segment standards.
Bang on Price: Mahindra ensured an aggressive price for the KUV 100 positioning it slightly lower compared to the segment favorites, the Grand i10 and the Swift in the pricing front. The car is priced in the Rs 4.45 Lakhs to Rs 6.84 Lakhs (ex-showroom Delhi) price range.
