Uber has tied up with Mahindra & Mahindra for the deployment of hundreds of electric vehicles in Hyderabad and Delhi. Mahindra & Mahindra will be supplying its eVerito and e2O Plus models for the fleet at Uber. As part of this tie-up, both organizations will also work on the possibilities of introducing electric vehicles from the brand in other Indian cities.
According to the Managing Director at Mahindra & Mahindra Limited, Dr. Pawan Goenka, the adoption of electric vehicles represents a trend that is fast gaining popularity in the country. Mahindra & Mahindra are the pioneers of electric cars in the mainstream market and hence would like to lead the push towards electric mobility in the Indian market, which can be both sustainable and smart at the same time according to him.
He talked of how this tie-up is a major step towards accelerating the large-scale integration of electric vehicles in the country with a view towards meeting the vision of the nation for future mobility along with sparking the trend of shared mobility platforms according to Dr. Goenka.
Mahindra & Mahindra will also be taking care of training programmes and driver education in case of electric vehicles. This move will also spread more awareness and knowledge about electric cars in the country and the company is hopeful of the speedy development of charging infrastructure in India as a result of this new collaboration.
