Mahindra & Mahindra launched the XUV500 in the year 2011 and gave the SUV a comprehensive facelift in the year 2015. There are now reports of the company working on a second but minor facelift along with an engine upgrade for the XUV500. The XUV500 makes use of a mHawk 2.2 litre diesel engine which could see its present power output of 140 BHP scaled up to 170 BHP with this facelifted. The torque figures are also expected to naturally increase with this increase in power.

This power increase will put the XUV500 in the same bracket as the Ford Endeavour and Toyota Fortuner. Mahindra & Mahindra is also expected to give a few minor design tweaks to the XUV500 to keep it relevant in a time of increasing competition in the SUV space. The company has recently added several features to the infotainment unit of the XUV500 including Connected Apps, Android Auto and EcoSense among others.

Mahindra & Mahindra is also working on a facelift for the Scorpio. The current generation model launched in the year 2014 and did not receive any upgrades since then. The Scorpio is reportedly getting an extensive facelift that will be coming later in 2017 itself. The Scorpio facelift is expected to be launched either in end-July or early August 2017. There will be quite a few aesthetic and design changes along with new features.

The 2017 Scorpio facelift is expected to get a revised front grille and rear door. There will be no plastic cladding and some other changes may include revamped rear and front lamps and bumpers along with brand new alloy wheels.

There may be a revamped dashboard which will have an upgraded infotainment unit. This should be the same unit used for the XUV500 and should get EcoSense, Connected Apps, Android Auto and the Emergency Call feature among other connectivity and entertainment features. The 2.2 litre mHawk diesel engine will continue dishing out 120 BHP and 280 Nm.

However, there may be a new 6-speed automatic transmission unit sourced from Aisin and this is the same unit that was launched for the XUV500 in the year 2015. There are reports of Mahindra considering an increase in power figures for the Scorpio to 140 BHP as well.
