Mahindra & Mahindra has launched the petrol XUV500 AT model in the Indian market. The SUV is priced at INR 15.49 lakhs (ex-showroom, Delhi) for this version and was formerly launched in Middle East markets like Qatar and Dubai. With growing demand for a petrol version of Mahindra & Mahindra’s popular SUV, it was only a matter of time before the petrol XUV500 came to India.
The Mahindra XUV500 comes with a four cylinder 2.2 litre mHawk petrol mill that dishes out 138 BHP of maximum power and peak torque of 320 Nm. There will only be the 6-speed automatic transmission option for the petrol XUV500 and this has been sourced from Japanese giant AISIN. There will be no design or mechanical changes for this model.
The petrol XUV500 gets only the G AT variant and some of the major features include dual airbags, a touch screen infotainment unit, cruise control, static-bending headlamps, rain sensing wipers, ESP and roll-over mitigation, push-button start, fully automatic temperature control and passive keyless entry.
The XUV500 petrol AT comes with a major advantage, i.e. it does not have any direct rival and is the only 7-seater amongst potential rivals like the Jeep Compass and Hyundai Creta although it is nicely slotted in between the two cars.
