Maruti Suzuki launched the new generation Dzire in May, 2017 and it has done extremely well in the Indian market. The new Dzire has notched up sales of 1 lakh units within just 5 ½ months since its launch which is a record of sorts. It has also created new records by commanding a whopping 63% of the entry-level sedan category in terms of market share.
Around a decade earlier in the 2008-09 period, there were only a few compact sedans in the country and the Dzire possessed approximately 41% in terms of market share. In 2016-17, there were 11 cars in this market category and the Dzire increased share to 50%. Now, this has gone up to 63% in 2017-18 and the sleek new design of the Dzire, added features and competitive pricing are the key factors behind the success of the car. The new Dzire looks and feels more premium and comes with higher quality levels. The Xcent and Amaze are the closest rivals to the Dzire in the segment although the latter leads them by a considerable margin.
