Maruti Suzuki continued its dominance in the Indian passenger vehicle market last year. Maruti Suzuki had 7 of its models in the top 10 list of highest selling domestic cars for 2017. The Maruti Suzuki Alto remained the undisputed leader of the domestic market, having notched up sales volumes of 2, 57, 732 units in all for 2017. The Dzire, Baleno, Swift and WagonR models also took up the next four positions in the list, making it a top-5 rout for Maruti Suzuki.
The company also had the Vitara Brezza which sold 1, 40, 945 units for 2017, posting growth of 65.5% in the top 10 list along with the Celerio. However, this will soon change with the introduction of the 2018 Swift which should give Maruti Suzuki even higher sales volumes this year.
The remaining three slots in the top 10 list were taken up by Hyundai Motor India with models like the Grand i10 (1, 54, 746 units and growth of 13.6%), Elite i20 (1, 16, 260 units and growth of 13.9%) and Creta (1, 05, 485 units and growth of 13.5%).
