The German car manufacturer, Mercedes Benz, offers a full range of passenger, light commercial and heavy commercial equipment since 1901. This luxury car maker launched its S class series in 1972. The first generation of the car series was later followed up by the second generation and has gone on to its sixth generation. The sixth generation of the S class is still in the market with its newest launch being the facelift model which is scheduled to be launched in the Indian market in 2018. The test drives for the same have already started with spy cams spotting the facelifted S-class on the Mumbai-Pune expressway. The facelift version will be available in 3 different forms namely the sedan, the coupe and the convertible. A new AMG version of the car is also on the cards for Indian roads.
The images from the spy cams gives us a hint of the features of the uplifted variant. The 2018 Mercedes-Benz S-Class facelift is set to be offered with 2 fuel variants- a new six-cylinder petrol and diesel engine. The high-spec V8 twin-turbo is on cards. A new 3.0-litre straight-six diesel engine will replace the older 3.0 V6 on 350d-badge models. The 3-litre V6 is expected to make a comeback with more power output.
The changes made in the facelift model is not drastic. Some of the subtle changes include new headlamps and LED DRLs, new tail-lamps, new set of alloy wheels and redesigned front and rear bumpers. On the interior front the car gets a few new features including a new 12.3-inch high definition screen, wood and leather options for interior trim and seats, new seat fragrance function, ventilated seats, semi-autonomous functions with active steering assist and active distance control etc.
