MG SUV to source diesel engine from Jeep Compass

MG is good to go to enter the Indian market in 2019 with a pristine SUV. MG is a British automaker that is under Chinese proprietorship under the SAIC umbrella. SAIC is the world's seventh biggest automaker with right around 7 million vehicles sold in 2017. SAIC in China has joint endeavours with General Motors, Volkswagen and FCA. In the past as well, GM vehicles in India has sourced the 1.3-liter MultiJet diesel motor from FCA for any semblance of its hatchbacks and cars.

The diesel motor in the Compass is a 2-liter unit that makes 171 bhp of pinnacle control and 350 Nm of pinnacle torque. The motor is mated to a 6-speed manual transmission in India with the Trailhawk display globally accessible with a 9-speed ZF programmed gearbox. The motor (with a manual gearbox) likewise offers sound fuel proficiency rating of 17.1 kmpl as per ARAI tests and all the more critically, is amusing to drive. The oil motor on the new SUV will be worked in house and will be a 4-chamber process from MG's global portfolio.
