Mercedes Benz has officially revealed the teaser image for the new A-Class premium hatchback which is expected to get an unveil next month itself. There are new headlights for the A-Class which are quite similar to the ones used by the newly launched CLS. The front fascia has been redesigned, giving the A-Class a sleeker yet aggressive look and feel. There is a new MFA-2 platform used for the car and there is more aluminum used along with high-strength steel in comparison to the current car’s MFA platform.
The low-set grille on the CelerioX is wider and comes with horizontal louvres in tandem with slim headlamps which spread back into the front wings. There is the five door layout and 120 mm and 16 mm of increased length and width respectively. The wheelbase is also longer by 30 mm. The engine range comprises of the regular 1.4 litre M282 engine which may have three tune states, namely 110 hp, 163 hp and 136 hp for the A 140, A 180 and A 160 models. There is also the M260 2 litre engine that will make 224 hp and 191 hp for the A250 and 200 models respectively.
This new engine is also the basis for the development of a new AMG engine for the A 35 4Matic version which will have 48-volt electric architecture complete with a combined output of 306 hp and 409 Nm and the electric boost feature. The new MBUX (Mercedes Benz User Experience) infotainment system will also be debuted with the A-Class. This new system will have artificial intelligence that will learn and respond to buyers, functioning like a personal assistant.
The MBUX infotainment unit was first shown by the company at the 2018 Consumer Electronic Show or CES. This will enter production this year for the brand new A-Class model. This customizable system can adapt itself to suit drivers and will create links between the passengers, driver and the car along with giving on-air updates. It gets the Widescreen high resolution Cockpit along with navigation display, touch screen operations and augmented reality technologies in tandem with natural speech recognition and intelligent voice control. There will be new ambient lighting for the cabin of the A-Class along with a new steering wheel complete with touch control buttons like the E-Class model and air conditioning vents that are illuminated.
