The new generation Land Rover Discovery Sport may be globally launched soon. As per reports, the next generation model has been seen in early testing stages. The Discovery Sport was launched in 2015 as the most affordable SUV from the brand and also as a replacement for the Freelander 2. According to reports, the new generation model could get a global debut around end-2019 or early 2020.
The new Land Rover Discovery is very similar to the present model with a few tweaks. The fuel cap has been redesigned and may be repositioned as well. The exhaust system also looks absolutely new. The latest D8 platform will be used for the new Discovery Sport and there may be minimal structural changes in the form of a revamped suspension setup and newer dimensions.

Land Rover may be considering the introduction of new powertrains and there may be a plug-in or electric versions available for the SUV. The car now comes with a TD4 2 litre diesel engine and 2 litre Si4 petrol engine, both of which are from the Ingenium range.
The company is expected to launch a facelifted version of the Land Rover Discovery Sport prior to launching the new generation model. This could be launched by the second half of next year. The Discovery Sport competes with the likes of the Audi Q5, Mercedes-Benz GLC and the BMW X3 in its segment.
