The new generation XC60 SUV has finally been launched in the Indian market. The XC60 comes at a price tag of INR 55.90 lakhs (ex-showroom, India) and this is a much-needed change since the current model has been sold in India from the year 2011 onwards. The XC60 competes in a power packed market segment comprising of the likes of the Mercedes Benz GLC, Jaguar F-Pace, BMW X3, Audi Q5 and even the Lexus NX300h which is due to come soon.
The XC60 Inscription variant is the only one being sold in the Indian market and this gets the 1,969 cc twin-turbocharged four cylinder diesel mill that churns out 233 BHP and 480 Nm of peak torque. The engine is mated to the 8-speed automatic Geartronic transmission setup. Globally, the car gets the D4 entry-level diesel engine option along with the T5 and T6 petrol engine options. Volvo has already informed that there may be a petrol variant of the XC60 which could be launched in the future in India.
The Volvo XC60 gets Volvo’s Scalable Product Architecture (SPA) platform in its latest avatar. The SUV also comes with attractive LED headlamps complete with the Thor’s hammer LED daytime running lights and the chiseled bumper in front. There are new tiny LED fog lamps for the XC60 in tandem with the signature chrome grille in the front. The XC60 stands at 4, 688 mm in terms of length while the width and height figures are 1, 902 mm and 1, 658 mm respectively. The car comes with electrically operated ORVMs along with integrated turn signal lights and brand new alloy wheels. There is a 2, 865 mm wheelbase for the new XC60 along with vertically stacked rear LED tail lamps and a roof-mounted spoiler.
There is a beefy bumper at the rear and the reflectors also get chrome accents. There is some chrome treatment for the dual exhaust pipes as well. There are cooled/heated seats in front with massage functionality too. The central console gets a Sensus 9.0 inch touch screen infotainment system which comes with driver assist, 360-degree camera, lane departure warning, semi-automatic parking and blind-spot assist. The new XC60 also comes with adaptive cruise control.
