Passenger car sales see healthy growth last month

Sales volumes of passenger cars have grown positively in December, 2017, as per reports. Carmakers are bullish about growth prospects in 2018 as well. Maruti Suzuki India, the market leader, has already posted sales growth of 11.4% and has notched up 118, 560 units in sales for last month. This includes growth of 2% from the mini car category (WagonR, Alto) and 23% growth from the compact category (Dzire, Ignis, Baleno, Dzire, Swift). Both categories had overall passenger sales volumes of 32, 146 units and 53, 336 units respectively.

Maruti Suzuki Ciaz

The Maruti Suzuki Ciaz witnessed sales volumes of 2, 383 units last month which indicates a drop in sales by almost 36%. However, Maruti Suzuki India posted 20% of growth in utility vehicles with sales volumes of 19, 276 units overall. On the other hand, market number two Hyundai India posted 0.3% in terms of sales growth. The company touched 40, 158 units for last month and has already sold 527, 320 units for the year which is a new sales record of sorts. The company witnessed healthy sales volumes coming from products like the Grand i10, Elite i20 and Creta SUV. Honda Cars India notched up a handsome 1, 78, 755 units in sales volumes for 2017 which indicates 15% of total growth. The City and WR-V have done very well for the company.

Honda Cars India notched up monthly sales volumes of 12, 642 units for December, 2017 and this represents 26% of growth. Mahindra & Mahindra did well last month with sales volumes of 15, 543 units although it indicates a drop in sales by close to 7%.
