The man who had created the Volkswagen Beetle, Ferdinand Porsche, had started his own automotive company after the second world war. Porsche would be celebrating the 70th anniversary of making the first ever registered under the company, Porsche 356, on the 8th of June, 2018. The car is one of the most legendary sportscars ever produced and had given births to legends, like the 550 even with the tiny engine. Porsche would most likely be launching the production version of the much awaited Mission E sedan to mark the 70th year as an automaker. However, the concept of an electric car is not a new thing about Porsche. Dr.Ferdinand Porsche had designed an electric car with four individual hub motors back in 1990 which had an all-wheel drive. The Lohner-Porsche, model, as it was called, had given rise to the hybrid versions later on. Th Porsche 356 had given way to the Porsche 911, though there are others that deserve a second look. A large number of car enthusiasts were drawn by the 914, though it was slow and had the engine of a van. The Cayenne was another model that was very popular that had brought more luxury and the whole concept of SUV in the market.
Porsche had several global activities around the world to mark the 70th birthday and the related celebrations. There would be a special display of cars at the Peterson Museum in Los Angeles, a tribute to the Goodwood Festival of Speed, special events in California and Zuffenhausen and drives and meetups in several Porsche clubs. There is a lot to enjoy on the eve of the anniversary and they cannot be missed out by car enthusiasts. Porsche is surely bringing out some real sparks.
