Renault, a French car maker, is one of the leading automobile company in India which comes up with upgraded car model every year. The auto car maker is all set to launch the second generation of the immensely popular model Renault Duster. The car made its debut in the 2017 Frankfurt Motor show but is yet to be launched in the Indian market. In fact the launch of the much anticipated second generation of Duster has been pushed further back for a few years to give way to another car by the car maker namely the Renault Captur. The current expected launch date is in the year 2019.
The Captur will sit just above the current Duster in Renault’s India line-up but is said to be within the same price range. The decision was made to avoid any potential competition for Captur. The Duster has already made a good name for itself in the recent times and thus would have no problems in making a good sale. If the Captur is launched in the same time it will have to compete against the Duster and may eventually fail. Thus the buffer time is being given to Captur to set its foot firmly in the market.

The original Duster was available in 2 fuel options. The diesel was available in two configurations 84 bhp and 200 Nm and 108 bhp and 240 Nm while the petrol engine produces 102bhp and 145Nm of torque. The 84bhp diesel and the petrol engine have been mated to a five-speed manual while the 108bhp diesel has been mated to a six-speed manual gearbox. The revamped model of the car offers same set of engine mechanism with some changes. The car could be offered with a new 1.6-litre diesel engine replacing the older 1.5-litre unit, while the 1.2-litre turbocharged petrol version could be retained. Dimensionally too both cars are identical.
