Maruti Suzuki Ignis gets a K-Series petrol engine of 1.2 litres (83 bhp and a torque of 115 Nm) and a DDiS diesel engine of 1.3 litres (74 bhp and a torque of 190 Nm). The diesel variants, in particular, have low NVH levels that result in fairly silent and insulated cabin. The handling of the car is quite convenient and elegant due to smaller turn radius and well proportioned dimensions. There is a five-speed or automated manual transmission on both these engines. Interestingly, apart from the standard 5-speed manual, both these engine options are available with a five-speed automatic manual transmission. The fuel efficiency of the petrol variant is 20.89 kmpl whereas it is 26.80 kmpl for the diesel one. The excellent 180 mm ground clearance of the vehicle also helps it to show better performance on roads.
