Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza
The Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza has created quite a stir in the Indian market, being Maruti Suzuki’s first product in the lucrative and highly competitive sub 4m compact SUV segment. This is the first car to be completely conceived, designed, engineered and produced by Maruti Suzuki indigenously and localization levels stand at an impressive 98% for the car. The Brezza has been in the news for a long time and was finally launched on the 8th of March, 2016 after being showcased earlier at the 2016 Auto Expo.

The compact SUV already seems a winner in the Indian market with Maruti announcing that it had garnered more than 5, 600 bookings within 48 hours of its launch. The Brezza’s design is a major USP with a big chrome grille, the sporty front bumper, headlamps with LED daytime running lights and projector setup. The matte black panel for indicators and fog lamps looks really good too. Chunky Vitara Brezza badging in chrome is used above the number plate zone and the floating roof design is definitely something novel. There are three options as far as dual tone setups are concerned including yellow and blue with a white roof and a red body with a black roof. The compact SUV also gets 16 inch steel or alloy wheels as standard depending on the variant in question.
The Brezza’s black interiors look appealing with silver brushed accents and a glossy central console. The car offers Maruti’s SmartPlay touch screen infotainment system which is the same as the Baleno. This comes with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto compatibility along with in-built navigation. Top end models also get a reverse camera, push button start, automatic headlights, cruise control, power folding mirrors, rain-sensing wipers, ABS and dual airbags. Other features include steering mounted controls, Bluetooth, USB and Aux-in connectivity, climate control, height adjustable driver’s seats, rear wiper and washer, mood lighting for the speedometer and electronically foldable ORVMS. A driver side airbag is standard across the base models but there are options to purchase safety packages comprising of a passenger airbag and anti-lock brakes. The interiors are adequately spacious with decent headroom and legroom. The compact SUV offers a 328 litre boot and storage capacity can be increased by folding the rear seats.
The Brezza only comes with a turbocharged 1.3 litre four cylinder diesel engine. This engine is a tried and tested product already used in the Ciaz. It dishes out 200 Nm of peak torque and 90 PS of power. Turbo lag is kept to a minimum and the 5 speed transmission unit has been specially tuned for the Brezza, making it easier to use. The clutch is light enough to facilitate start-stop traffic driving. Handling is decent in spite of a little body roll and ride quality is also impressive in terms of comfort for rear passengers. The Vitara Brezza comes with drum and disc brakes at the rear and front respectively.

The Brezza also scores with its ARAI tested fuel efficiency figures of 24.3 kilometres per litre which is officially the best in the segment compared to the Ford EcoSport (22.27 kmpl) and the Mahindra TUV300 (18.49 kmpl). The competitive pricing between INR 6.99-9.68 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi) makes this a sure shot winner in the Indian market.
You should buy the Maruti Suzuki Vitara for its appealing design, features, top notch fuel economy, a tried and tested engine, decent handling, compelling price and most importantly its emphasis on safety. It is definitely the hottest compact SUV to buy at present.
